General Terms and Conditions (T&Cs)
for the online shop of Handmade by Matima – owner Saskia Taheri
Last updated: September 2026
1. Scope
These General Terms and Conditions (T&Cs) apply to all orders placed by consumers (Section 13 of the German Civil Code, BGB) through the Handmade by Matima online shop or by email following a prior enquiry.
A consumer is any natural person who enters into a legal transaction for purposes that are predominantly outside their trade, business or independent professional activity.
2. Contracting party
The purchase contract is concluded with:
Handmade by Matima
Owner: Saskia Taheri
Am Mühlenfließ 39
15234 Frankfurt (Oder)
Germany
Email: saskia.taheri@web.de
VAT identification number: DE436851189
3. Subject of the contract
The subject of the contract is the sale of individually designed and personalised products.
Because each item is individually handmade, minor variations in colour, material, texture or arrangement may occur. Such variations are possible provided they do not impair the agreed characteristics or the normal use of the product.
4. Conclusion of the contract
The presentation of products in the online shop does not constitute a legally binding offer, but a non-binding invitation to place an order.
By submitting your order, you make a binding offer to enter into a purchase contract. The contract is concluded when I accept your order by sending an order confirmation by email or dispatch the ordered goods. An automatic acknowledgement of receipt of your order does not in itself constitute acceptance.
For orders placed by email following a prior enquiry, you will receive an individual offer from me, including the product description, total price, shipping costs, payment terms and delivery time, together with these T&Cs. The contract is concluded when you accept this offer by email within the acceptance period stated in it.
If a product is exceptionally unavailable, I will inform you without delay.
5. Prices
All prices are quoted in euros (€).
Prices include statutory VAT.
Any additional shipping costs are shown separately during the ordering process.
6. Payment methods
The following payment methods are available:
-
PayPal
-
Klarna
-
Apple Pay
-
Google Pay
-
Bank transfer (payment in advance)
Your payment method will be charged in accordance with the terms of the respective payment service provider.
7. Delivery
Delivery is available to Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Norway and Luxembourg.
Delivery to other countries worldwide is available on request. Please contact me before placing your order at saskia.taheri@web.de and let me know which product you would like and the destination country. I will check whether delivery to the requested address is possible and provide the shipping costs and delivery time in an individual offer. Delivery to other countries requires a corresponding agreement.
Production generally takes 2–4 weeks from receipt of payment and, where required for production, receipt of the clothing sent to Handmade by Matima. If both conditions must be met, production time begins once both payment and clothing have been received.
Transit time to the destination country is additional to production time. The delivery period applicable to your order will be communicated to you in the online shop or in the individual offer before you submit your binding order.
If delays occur after the contract has been concluded, I will inform you without delay. This does not automatically extend an agreed delivery period. Your statutory rights in the event of delivery delays remain unaffected.
8. Shipping costs
The following shipping costs apply to the ordered goods:
-
Germany: Free of charge.
-
Austria: Flat rate of €25.00.
-
Switzerland: Flat rate of €29.00.
-
Norway: Flat rate of €40.00.
-
Luxembourg: Flat rate of €25.00.
For deliveries to other countries worldwide, shipping costs are calculated individually based on the destination and the size of the shipment.
Deliveries to countries outside the European Union, particularly Switzerland and Norway, may incur additional import charges, such as import VAT and customs duties, as well as the shipping provider's customs clearance fees. You are responsible for these costs unless they are expressly included in the stated total price or a different arrangement has been made in the individual offer. Where applicable, these charges are collected by the relevant authorities or the shipping provider.
9. Retention of title
The delivered goods remain my property until payment has been made in full.
10. Statutory rights in the event of defects
Statutory rights in the event of defects apply.
11. Liability
I am liable without limitation for damage caused by an intentional or grossly negligent breach of duty, as well as for damage arising from injury to life, body or health.
In the event of a slightly negligent breach of essential contractual obligations, my liability is limited to foreseeable damage typical of the contract.
Otherwise, liability is excluded to the extent permitted by law.
The provisions of the German Product Liability Act remain unaffected.
12. Right of withdrawal
Consumers generally have a statutory right of withdrawal.
However, the right of withdrawal does not apply to contracts for the supply of goods that are not prefabricated and whose manufacture is determined by your individual choice or decision, or that are clearly tailored to your personal requirements (Section 312g(2), no. 1 of the German Civil Code, BGB).
This applies in particular to keepsakes made individually to your specifications and personalised products.
Further information can be found in the separate withdrawal policy.
13. Damage in transit
Please check the goods for obvious damage in transit immediately upon receipt.
If damage in transit is apparent, please report it to the delivery driver as soon as possible and inform me without delay.
Failure to make a complaint or contact me does not affect your statutory rights in the event of defects; however, doing so helps me pursue my claims against the transport company.
14. Data protection
Information about the processing of personal data can be found in my separate privacy policy.
15. Applicable law
The law of the Federal Republic of Germany applies, excluding the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods.
Mandatory consumer protection provisions of the country in which you habitually reside remain unaffected.
16. Contract language
The language of the contract is German.
17. Final provisions
If any provision of these General Terms and Conditions is or becomes wholly or partly invalid, the remainder of the contract remains effective. Where a provision is invalid, the statutory provisions apply.
